• Subject-specific rankings matter more than overall rank for specialist programmes. QS Computer Science, QS Business, QS Engineering are separate tables worth checking.
• The Guardian University Guide and Complete University Guide rank UK universities on student satisfaction and graduate employment — very useful for UK decisions where you care about employment outcomes
• Russell Group membership (UK) is not a ranking — it signals research intensity and selective admissions but does not imply any specific rank position
• THE (Times Higher Education) is strong for research-focused graduate applicants — it weights academic citations heavily, making it more relevant for PhD or research Masters
